5 Cleansing Rituals to Move Stuck Energy
Energy is the most important currency one can have. Therefore, protecting this natural and valuable resource is extremely important.
Energy is transferrable. Especially if you don’t know how to manage or protect your energy, you can easily get affected by others’ vibrations. This is why you may feel drained or really tired after a networking event or after hanging out with a room full of people you don’t really like. Especially at those times, it becomes even more important to clear any stuck energy to prevent long-term suppression.
These simple rituals are mostly natural principles that have been practiced by different ancient civilizations through centuries. They usually involve nature’s 4 elements; water, fire, air, and earth. Releasing stuck and negative energy this way not only helps with personal relief but also with recycling the energy.
When should you cleanse your energy?
Practically, you can cleanse your physical and emotional energy at any time. Some people also turn it into a weekly or monthly ritual. But it’s definitely a good idea to cleanse your energy if you feel any of these;
- Overwhelming feelings of sadness, frustration, heaviness
- Stuck in a cycle of negative thinking
- Physically dealing with unexpected difficulties such as accidents, migraines, or injuries
- Exposed to lots of different people’s energies
- Surrounded by negative or energy-sucking people
- Constant tiredness, confusion, lack of focus
- Need a fresh start
5 Rituals to Move Stuck Energy
1- Salt-water soak
Water and salt both have significant powers to cleanse and transform in general. We use water to cleanse our bodies and minds on a daily basis. Taking a warm bath often relaxes the mind and body or we tend to feel refreshed after a shower.
Salt, especially rock salt, also has cleansing properties because it’s a natural crystal! That’s right! Just like many other crystals you may be working with; salt is a crystal that comes from nature as well. It’s known to transform negative energy into neutral energy.
For a simple soak, you can use a bucket of water and add rock salt or Himalayan salt to the water. With a clear intention, soak your feet in the water for about 1 hour. During this time, make sure to stay with your intention and avoid any distractions such as TV or phone. Lighting a candle, oracle cards or a meditation can be great to practice. You can also take this soak further and turn it into a salt bath!
2- Burning sage
Lately, burning sage has become one of those trends that everybody does but there is a reason for it. Just like some of the other cleansing rituals mentioned here, sage burning or smudging is another ancient cleansing ritual that has been practiced by Mayans, Middle Eastern Cultures, Jewish culture, and more.
Sage is known to spell negative energy, move stuck energy, and help with clarity and stronger intuition. As a plant, sage is known to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Through centuries, different civilizations used it for healing and cleansing.
3- Breathwork
Breathwork is a practice that has been around for hundreds of years. Even though breathwork can be practiced for many different reasons, one of my favorite breathwork practices is for energy release. During the high intensity of day-to-day life, we tend to suppress lots of energies and emotions. Breath helps move stuck frequencies and helps with moving them out of the body.
My favorite breathwork practices for energy cleansing are Wim Hof breathing and rebirthing breathing. Especially when done with an experienced facilitator, you may feel a rush of emotions from sadness to fear. It’s also common to cry, shake the body, or experience body jerking during breathwork. This is how emotionally and physically stuck energy moves out.
4- Fire ritual
A fire cleansing ritual or burning ceremony has been practiced by different cultures through centuries. Fire is nature’s one of the most powerful four elements. Fire is also known to have transformational powers that turn bad into good, and evil into prosperous. With a clear intention, a fire ritual can help with cleansing stuck emotions or repetitive patterns.
Fire rituals can be simple or complex, depending on your goals and availability. If you are practicing alone, set a safe fire, preferably somewhere in nature, without harming nature. Write down what you are clearing and burning away in advance. And when you are ready to release them, throw the paper into the fire. Watch it turn into orange flames and disappear into nature. It’s great to practice mindfulness during a fire ritual.
Fire rituals can also be powerful when practiced with others. Especially when coupled with the full moon, which often signifies the completion of cycles, an intense release can be felt.
5- Lead pouring
As some of you may know, I am from Turkish culture and I grew up with lead pouring. I remember my mother or aunts calling a spiritual old lady to come and perform this cleansing ritual. The purpose is to spell out any negative energies, jealous eyes, or bad omens. It’s important to perform this with someone who is experienced and has pure intentions.
During lead pouring, the person who is receiving the clearing lays on the floor while a few others hold a blanket over the body. The performer then melts the lead and drops the hot lead into a bowl of water. Based on the shape lead gets in the water, predictions, and insights are delivered.
